author watch: Christina Phillips

Forbidden by Christina Phillips is a debut Roman/Druid Ancient Historical Romance from Berkley Heat:

He was a master of seduction - but no match for the magical allure of the woman he wanted most...

Carys knew from the moment she first spied on Maximus in his naked barbarian glory that he was a dangerous Roman centurion - his taut, battle-scarred flesh marking him as a fearless warrior. But her desire for him was as undeniable as it was illicit.

Charged by his emperor to eliminate a clan of powerful Druids in Britain, Maximus never expects his mission to be thwarted by the clan's ethereal princess, Carys, his daring voyeur. Falling under her spell, he doesn't realize her true heritage - until he captures her heart as well as her body.

As Carys's loyalties are twisted, and freedom is no longer her single-minded obsession, an avenging former lover threatens to crush Maximus's people into oblivion. Now Carys and Maximus must overcome the devastation of war and face the ultimate sacrifice if their forbidden love is to survive.

I came across this title from a recent post at Dear Author and I love the sound of the story! A romance set in the year AD 50 is one I don't come across often, and when it is also described as "scorchingly hot and wildly romantic" how can a reader resist? The excerpt on Christina's website is fantastic, and I'm just happy the book release date is less than a week away!

Oh, and Christina would like to share that she is having a Launch Party in celebration for Forbidden. So check out the video below, AND visit her website/blog by September 6th!

Hi Allison :),

I have this new author on my radar also. Sounds very good and I love that it's a time period not often at all explored! I can't even say if I've read one set that far back.

Hi Amy, thanks for visiting :) Yes, I think the setting/time period is particularly neat and interesting. Just waiting for copies to arrive in my local bookstores! If you read it, would love to hear what you think (posted on your blog :)?

Hmmm, I haven't done a review in months! I sorta lost the desire. And of course, one must read in order to review...one or two books a month...not a whole lot of reading going on over here :).
